New York: Hafner Publishing Company, Inc. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. 285 p. Revised by Richard Becker. Authorized Translation by John Dougall, M.A., D.Sc., F.R.S.E. Textual figures. New York: Hafner Publishing Company, Inc., n.d. (circa 1947). The first American printing of this translation of the eighth German edition. Classic account of the mathematical theory of electromagnetism. From the library of American computer pioneer Willis Ware (1920-2013), with his bookplate to the front pastedown and his holographic marginalia throughout. In the late 1940s, Ware helped build a machine that would become a blueprint for computer design in the 20th century, and later played an important role in defining the importance of personal privacy in the information age. Octavo. Original green cloth binding, with gilt titles. The dust jacket is a bit browned, more so along the spine and folds, with some occasional edgewear; else very good.
