About the author

Charles J. Peterson, Ph.D. worked at the Carnegie Institution of Washington and at Cerro Tololo Inter-American Observatory before joining the University of Missouri in 1978. He has researched star clusters and galaxis as well as the history of astronomy. He has taught introductory and advanced astronomy courses for over 20 years.
