Santa Barbara, California: Neville, 1989. First Edition. Hardcover. Fine. A proof copy and the limited edition, which is copy 49 of 300 signed by James Lee Burke, who wrote the foreword. The proof is also signed by James Lee Burke on the colophon. Journal of Willeford's experiences on the set of the 1974 Monte Hellman film Cockfighter, which was based on Willeford's novel, and for which the author wrote the screenplay. Willeford played a cockfighting referee in the film, and chronicles the highs and lows of the experience. Octavo, two volumes. The proof is bound in white paper wrappers. The limited edition is bound in full red cloth with pictorial black stamping and is accompanied by the original acetate dust wrappers. Both are fine.
