About This Item

Edinburgh: John Grant, 1905. 2nd Edition 1st Printing. Hardcover. Good+. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Second revised edition first printing octavo hardback Green cloth gilt, top edge gilt. 304 pp. illustrated Good + condition. On the inside cover is Auberon Waugh's illustrated book plate and a note Interestingly there is a note purportedly written by the numistmatist Leopold Montague scathing in reference to the book A subsequent owner, Maurice Byrne has written in pencil that this was written by Waugh, not Montague. We have for sale a genuine inscribed book by Montague which appears to be the model for Waugh's rather more florid forgery!
