London: Thames and Hudson [0-500-54109-4] 1985. (4to) 283pp. Near fine in near fine dust jacket. Photographs. There is a very tiny dampstain to the back bottom corner and the top edge has a small discoloration near the spine. "The first picture - the first shot - in this large and fascinating volume of Henri-Cartier-Bresson's photographic portraits is much more than merely strange. I know nothing about the main figure in that picture beyond a time, 1967, and a place, Israel; but I know enough to be captivated by something unfamiliar, yet inescapable". Time Period & 1932-1985. Foreword by Andre Pieyre de Mandiargues. (Photography, Celebrities, Photography, Portraits).

Description:
Routledge, 1990. 8vo size trade paperback; 390 pages including index From back: "This is a unique study, continuing the work of Merleau-Ponty and Heidegger, and using the techniques of phenomenology against the prevailing nihilism of our culture. It expands our understanding of the human potential for spiritual self-realization by interpreting it as the developing of a bodily-felt awareness informing our gestures and movements. The author argues that a psychological focus on our experiences of well-being and pathology as embodied beings contribute significantly to a historically relevant critique of idealogy. It also provides an essential touchstone in experience for a fruitful individual and collective response to the dangers of nihilism." Edgewear, moderate wear to covers with sunned spine; marginalia, underlining and very light highlighting on least 58 pages prior to page 107; two previously folded page corners, some stray ink marks on outside pages.
