Collection of 44 Vintage Film Postcards by Film Postcards

Fine. New book being sold as “Like New” because it has been on my (now closed) bookstore shelf and has some edge wear and small crease bottom front.

early-to-mid 1900s. Ephemera. Near Fine. Collection of 7 sepia and b/w picture postcards (photographic), one of them hand-colored, each about 3.5 x 5.5 inches. All are addressed to Alfred Creutzberg, handwritten in English or German on the verso (except one, where the handwriting is written in the photo border, framing the girl's face), with their original postage stamps and postmarks. Mr. Creutzberg must have been a known fan of the ladies, as the singers and actresses his friends sent him include: Janet Alexander, Reta Walter (2, but not duplicates), Aenny Hindermann (image a bit silvered, prettily so), Edna May, Isabel Jay, and Denise Orme.

A colourful card showing the map of "Indian Territory" (Oklahoma) with vignette of natives hunting buffalo and a decorative arrow case. Area indicates different tribes such as the Choctaws, Chicasaws, Wachitas, Seminoles and Cherokees.

The Arbuckle Brothers Coffee Company was founded in Pittsburgh, PA by brothers Charles and John Arbuckle. Pioneering a method of roasting and "sealing" the coffee beans with egg whites, which ensured the longer shelf life, their product met with immediate success. As a promotional gimmick they began to include chromolithographed "trade" cards in their one pound bags with themes of sports, food, historic scenes and the most sought after of the series- maps. The advertising ploy proved to be hugely popular and by 1915 another series was issued showing updated populations and newly built roads and railroads.

Dallas: Texas Centennial Exposition, 1936. Accordion-fold postcard packet containing nine sheets with buildings in the Exposition both sides making a total of 18 images, versos of the cover folds with text about the Expo. Very Good, the cards were mailed to Mrs Ida Popkins of Halsted, Kans in 1938 and postmarked with the Texas Centennilal postmark. Light rubbing to the covers at edges. . Postcard. Very Good. 4 1/4" x 6".

New York: DeWitt C. Wheeler, Photographer No date, circa 1908 -1910. Printed "Anglo Life Series" verso, featuring 3 cowboys with 3 horses and a building that appears to be a store. Sent to Mrs. Wesley Popkins, Halstead, Kansas, from Sada ?, concerning an upcoming visit. Very Good, with creases. New York photographer DeWitt C. Wheeler's works are found in the George Eastman Museum collection. . Postcard. Very Good. 3 1/4" x 5 1/2".

Book of 24 photographic postcards showing the devastation to the French town of Soissons after bombardment by German forces in WWI. Scenes include the ruins of cathedrals, churches, private homes. bridges, hospitals, et al, as well as a graveyard with a row of graves of Americans killed at the front. Oblong orange stapled paperwraps printed on front cover only; editor's single-page introduction; 24 postcards with captions in French and English on fronts and divided backs. Book measures approximately 5.75 x 3.5" and postcards are around 5.5 x 3.5". Covers chipped at corners; split to front cover (at staples) repaired with archival tape. Old damp stain affecting front cover, introduction and first postcard otherwise contents are altogether very good. Individual postcards appear on the market but a complete books of postcards such as this one are quite scarce.

Rare Maynard Workshop Postcard of the New Old South Tower Copley Square Boston Massachusetts "THE CITY" POST CARDS is on a title block in the middle of blank back. There is a divided rule in the middle - one side for your message, another for the recipient's address. On the bottom is the tagline "FROM PHOTOGRAMS COPYRIGHTED BY THE MAYNARD WORKSHOP - WABAN - MASSACHUSETTS" The bottom left of the image has a very light c circled (the copyright symbol), beneath that is what appears to be "F and K" with a wavy line underneath with a small mark or dot under that. The card is unused, unstamped, undated. If you are a collector of Maynard Workshop cards, you know that they are hard to date. This card is circa 1920's or early 1930's. Newton, Kansas: H. S. Dickey's Post Office, News, Store, 1910. Two real photo postcards mailed to members of the Popkins family of Halstead, Kans., dated Oct. 3 and Nov. 15, 1910. The Ringling Circus Parade card features at least 1 dozen elephants., is Very Good, bottom corner crease. The other card, View of Newton Kans., Looking South on Main St., Pub. by H.S. Dickey's Post Office News Store, also Very Good, a few small rubs at bottom edge. . Postcard. Very Good. 3 1/2 x 5 1/2".

San Francisco: Chronicle Books Llc Original promotional poster, 18 w" x 24 h", featuring.Woodleigh Hubbard's wonderful illustration of a "Hip Cat", from the story about a group of jazz cats. An uncommon poster, printed for distribution at the ABA trade show in 1993. Near Fine,3 small staple holes top left cornet which could be covered by a frame. A great gift for a cat-loving jazz musician, well suited for framing. All posters will be shipped loosely rolled in mailing tube. . First Printing. Poster. Near Fine. 18" x 24".

Cincinnati, Ohio: Norwood Souvenir Co., 1909. Real photo postcard of bathing scene in Galveston, Texas, just 9 years after the great Hurricane of 1900 had devastated Galveston. Near Fine, mailed from Ray Ritter in Galveston to Robert Popkins of Halstead, Kansas, the stamp removed, tiny rubs at corners. . Postcard. Near Fine. 3 1/2 x 5 1/2".

Syracuse, Kansas : W. W. Kidwell,/ Kidwell's Studio Photo , 1916. Two real photo postcards, sent by mail Aug. 7 and Sept. 20, 1916. Both by W.W. Kidwell photographic studio, Syracuse, Hamilton County, Kansas. Sent from Syracuse, Kansas by Robert Popkins to his parents Sept. 20 and to his brother Chas. Aug. 7, both living in Halstead, Kansas. The cards titled No. 1 View of Syracuse and New Steel Bridge, Syracuse, Kans. In the message to his brother Robert describes a 2 1/2 hour trip with his mulke team "down to Syracuse" "had a runaway and then made them travel the rest of the way." He also mentions "it is still windy out here and the dust blows a fright". The one to his parents mentions "stayed all night in Bucklin and came to Dodge this morn. Caught No.9 here will see my Co. Supt. and then catch the 567 to Holly." He ends by saying "tell Everett there is no school in Kiowa Co." Both Very Good, the written sides with some toning. SCARCE. .… Read More
