London: Longmans, Green, and Co., 1889. After the Originally a serial, then published in book form in 1888; this is a Very Good copy of a Later Printing, from one year later. His seventh novel, which moves away from his successful action format to a more romantic and conventional plot. Surprisingly scarce. Dark blue cloth binding, bevelled, with titling in gilt on the spine and front cover. Clean text; 341 pages. Lightly rubbed at the margins; spotting to the endpapers and occasionally within. Some bubbling to the covers.The first signature has cracked and could do with some reinforcement. Still, the book presents well.. Later Printing. Hard Cover. Very Good/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
