About This Item
Full title The Colonial Office List for 1866 comprising Historical and Statistical Information respecting the colonial dependencies of Great Britain. with an account of the services of the principal officers of the several colonial governments. The practice of issuing this list started in 1862, and a new publication appears every year. These very early issues had a fancy red somehat-limp front board with brilliant gilt title and crown and blind carving. The style is maintained throughout the series, but in later years, as the book became larger, a rigid board is used. My copy has no significant bumps and just the mildest scuff at bottom of spine. The huge fold-out coloured map at the front of the book, shows "The Empire," that at this stage had not fully expanded. The copy in the book I offer is FINE. 238 numbered pages plus ads for and samples of Harrison stationery. "Too-Late-For-Insertion" and "Omission" sheet tipped in. Massive detail on possessions, who's who in colonial governments, consulates.
