London: Colin Smythe, 1983. A first edition, first printing published by Colin Smythe in 1983. A near fine book without inscriptions. SIGNED and inscribed 'To Emma/Without whom this book/would not have been/possible.../Many thanks!/Terry Pratchett/'. In a fine unclipped wrapper WITHOUT the overprint on the front flap. The first printing is said to have comprised 500 copies, but 400 of these were seemingly issued to libraries making fine copies difficult to come by. The printed overlay found on the inner front flap of most copies was pasted over the original blurb as a result of inaccuracies spotted when the jacket was returned from the American printers. 'Emma' was the head typesetter at Colin Smythe and so Pratchett's inscription appears to be a little ironic. A superb association copy.
