Bruce B. Lawrence is an award-winning author of the first comparative study of religious fundamentalism "Defenders of God" (Harper 1989). His latest monograph, from Princeton University Press, looks beyond the headlines of Muslim terrorists: "Shattering the Myth: Islam beyond Violence" (1998). He has written and edited 7 books, and over 120 articles. He is Professor of Comparative Religions and Chair of the Department of Religion at Duke University.
