The New Zealand born architects Amyas Connell and Basil Ward were in partnership from 1930, and were joined in 1934 by the Cambridge trained architect Colin Lucas. From this point, the practice introduced a type of contemporary architecture exploiting the potential of new materials such as glass, reinforced concrete and steel, resulting in some of the most authentic modern buildings of the period, including High and Over and New Farm or the White House. The practice was dissolved in 1939 and the partners went their separate ways. .
