Early polished calf; spines gilt in compartments with morocco title-labels; sides bordered with gilt rolls; all edges marbled; covers slightly sunned on the spines; top edges a little dusty; overall in excellent condition. A handsome set of the principal works of Henry Hallam in nine volumes, with the armorial bookplates of Sir Alexander 'Alick' Russell Downer KBE (1910-1981) and Sergius Henry d'Avigdor in each volume.
