SSIGNED & DATED PRESENTATION COPY FROM AUTHOR TO NOTED CHILDREN'S AUTHOR KATE DOUGLAS WIGGIN. 1st Edition. VG- copy with visibly worn edges and typical library markings. 31 chapters, 22 full-page photoplates by the author, 416 clean pages including index. The flyleaf carries 2 inscriptions; 1) "To Kate Douglas Riggs with the sincere esteem of Charles S. Olcott, June 11, 1917." This was Kate Douglas Wiggin, the internationally noted and very popular children's author of the late 19th and early 20th centuries and author of REBECCA OF SUNNYBROOK FARM. After the death of her first husband, she married Geo. C. Riggs and while she was then Kate Douglas Riggs, she continued to go by her professional name of Kate Douglas Wiggin. 2) In her hand is the inscription, "To the Salmon Falls Library from Kate D. Riggs." Thiis is the library in the town of Hollis, Maine which she founded in 1911 and is still operating. The library stickers and stamps are from this library..
