Hinges cracked and archivally repaired. Owner bookplate front paste-down. Sm. 8vo. viii, 208 pp. These lectures were given before a Juvenile Auditory at the Royal Institution of Great Britain during the Christmas Holidays of 1860-61 and constitute the origin of the Christmas lectures for young people that are still given there every year and bear his name.
