Octavo. 306pp. Binding with light but pervasive staining, very good in a supplied very good or better dust jacket with toning and just a bit of light soil. The dedication copy, Inscribed on the front fly: "Bill Earle's Copy. B.E. who is to blame for this collection. Cordially, Eliseo. 5 May '55." The printed dedication reads: "For W.A.E." A collection of updated essays by the philosopher and literary theorist written over the prior 25 years. Earle and Vivas were colleagues in philosophy at Northwestern University, where Earle was considered a major figure in the philosophical fields of existentialism and phenomenology, and an expert on Jaspers, Hegel, and Surrealism. The dedication copy.
