About This Item

Tidewater Publishers, 1976-01-01. hardcover. Very Good/Acceptable. 0x0x0. Tidewater Publishers, 1976. Hardcover, 250 pp. First Edition. Very good in acceptable+ dust jacket. Red cloth covered boards with gold lettering on front and spine. Light bumping and scuffing to edges and corners of covers. Binding tight. Pages lightly aged but otherwise clean and unmarked. Dust jacket has several 1" or less chips and tears and creasing along edges. light overall scuffing, aging and soiling to jacket as well. Now in an archival quality (removable) Brodart cover. Not Ex-library. No remainder marks. Black and white illustrations. [From front jacket flap] In this sequel or follow-up to his Creative Bird Carving, the author presents hard-earned "know-how" developed over the years. None of it is theory except where especially noted. All of the material is original and many techniques are published here for the first time. The text is an extension of the actual carving, metalwork and ferro-cement experiences of the author, to make more comfortable (it is hoped) the difficult technical procedures. The assumption is made in the beginning that certain experiences beyond the beginner's stage have been part of the reader's preparation. This does not mean, however, that inexperienced persons should be discouraged from reading this book. On the contrary, many individuals are unconscious of their powers and are able to grasp technical instruction as well as others who have had years of experience. They require only the fanning of the spark of their creative talent to cause latent abilities to burst into flame. However, the book has been designed primarily for those who would like to have help beyond that given in Creative. Bird Carving, and who desire to widen their field of activities, or challenge their abilities to perform on a higher level of creative art. Contents: Appreciation and Enjoyment of Creative Art - Work with the Hands - Figureheads - The Canada Goose - The Osprey - The Great Horned Owl - The Pelican - Elephants - Don Quixote de La Mancha - Adios Harry - Plaques - Human Figure - St. Francis of Assisi - Metal Sculpture - A Formal Fish Pond - Ferro Cement Sculpture - Index.
