Fine/Near Fine. Inscribed and stamped by the author on the half-title page. The book has a straight, tight spine with perfect boards. No wear on edges with crisply pointed tips. No internal markings or tears. The dust jacket is 99% complete, price clipped, with tiny losses/tears at spine heel/head and edges. Tiny losses at front tip and back tip and back edge up about half way to the top. Now encase in sparkling new mylar archival jacket. Looks spectacular! This title was an honorable mention for the 1956 Caldecott Medal..
