About This Item

This is a numbered and signed first edition of which this is number 472 of 1,426. It lacks the original acetate jacket and the slipcase. It is now in a red custom made slipcase made by Quality Bindery, Inc (photo). Bound in heavy duty wheat colored buckram. This copy is signed twice as it is an association copy with an inscription for the commander of the Fitzsimons Army Hospital in Denver when President Eisenhower was a heart patient there in 1955 (photo). The book is also signed by Eisenhower on the Facsimile of the D-Day Order of the Day (photo). In effect the book was signed in 1948 when Ike was a five star general and in 1955 when he was president and commander-in-chief. The book is in good condition. Its only imperfection is the front hinge which is a bit shaken (photo), otherwise the hinge is firm to feel.

About Donald P. Jennings

I ship in boxes using Styrofoam pellets to protect books in transit. Keep in mind that shipping charges reflect the added costs of using boxes & foam pellets. However, small books and paperbacks may be shipped in bubble wrapper envelopes. Standard shipping Media Mail is my default shipping method. Media Mail can take up to 10 days or longer for delivery. Priority Mail is expedited delivery and it usually takes 2 to 3 days for delivery but that is not a guarantee. I use Priority Mail Flat Rate Boxes for expedited delivery and the cost is considerably higher than Media Mail - $17.50 for medium size Flat Rate Box. I will not risk shipping hardback books in Priority Mail Flat Rate Envelopes as this method does not sufficiently protect books. International shipping is substantially more costly than standard shipping rates within the United States. This is especially true of heavy books. The true cost will almost always be more than the standard rate so you should expect a request for additional substantial charges for shipping.

I've been an avid reader for over 60 of my 80 years and have amassed a very good library. I've decided to sell off this collection online due to fact that local bookstores will only buy books for only cents on the dollar. I've been picky about purchases so virtually all of my books are in very good to fine to as new in like condition dust jackets.
