About This Item

Author signed on the half title page: To Bernice and Frank, Thanks for the American Poets-Mairuth.

"No Crystal Stair is an absorbing novel that explores an increasingly difficult contemporary reality: functioning as though White while surviving as Black. Marion Willow, a proud young widow, must work at two jobs to ensure that her three girls develop lifestyles not hindered by class and colour. The bitter-sweet experience of Marion's elegant American expatriate neighbour. Torrie Delacourt, could help the girls survive Canada's subtle racism, which, though not legislated, wounds and hems them in." (Front Flap"

About cheatums bargains

World's youngest Antique Dealer (58 years ago)I started my antique shop when I was in the 7th grade, in some extra space in my dad's business. By the time I was in the 10th grade, I had expanded into an adjacent vacant grocery store. And it grew from there. At one time I had over 10,000 books. Vietnam came along and I liquidated my shop. Boy meets Girl and everything changes. I continued to collect and accumulate for the next 44 years. I've re-retired 3 times since my 1st retirement. Since we moved 7 times a lot of stuff was packed away. So now it's time to start selling this lifetime collection. As I unpack, I'll list it up. I have no idea what's in some of these boxes. I don't have a "shop", just my family room and my basement. So visit often. And don't be shy about contacting me. P.S. I'm an old dinosaur, so I don't do facebook, twitter or any of that other new fangled stuff. I'm lucky to figureBiblioout. Layaways available
