With printed dedication at head of title: "To Mrs. Varian Hoffman" and price of "10" [cents] printed within a star.
Previous owner's name and date ("Ann [?]McCormack 1866" in pencil to upper outer corner of title, with handstamp of Scharfenberg & Luis in New York to foot.
Disbound. Slightly worn, browned, and foxed; outer margin dampstained; minor offsetting and showthrough. First Edition. Doyle p. 311. Offergeld RO 191, p. 26.
