He is passionate about sharing the Good News with his generation and was instrumental in leading high school students in Littleton, Colorado, through the aftermath of the 1999 Columbine shooting. He is a 2005 graduate of Moody Bible Institute in Chicago.

He also serves as executive director for the National Day of Prayer Task Force. Jim has coauthored numerous Focus on the Family books including the Family Nights Tool Chest series, Spiritual Milestones, Spiritual Mentoring of Teens, and The Power of Teachable Moments. Jim and his wife of twenty-four years, Janet, live in Littleton, Colorado, and are the proud parents of four.
