New York: The Heritage Press. Very Good-. 1955. Hardcover. A deluxe, illustrated Heritage Press edition of the tragic romance novel by Alexandre Dumas (fils). Rendered into English from the French by Edmund Gosse, illustrations by Bernard Lamotte and with an introduction by André Maurois. Includes a prefatory letter by the author, and "A Memoir of Marie Duplessis", a story by Jules Janin. Sandglass leaflet laid in (New York, no. VIII:20). --- In blue floral-patterned cloth-covered boards with gilt titling on red spine block; dark red topstain. Volume house in dark red paper-covered slipcase. --- With quite noticeable sunning & yellowing to spine and prior owner's signature to front free endpaper, otherwise volume is in excellent shape, clean and bright. Slipcase with a little soiling, scratches and small tears but remains structurally sound. (NOTE: Due to the weight of this item, extra shipping charges may be requested for any shipment other than by USPS Media Mail in the US.) ; Small Quarto - 9 to 11 in. tall; xxiv, 231 pages .
