About This Item

New York: Dodd, Mead & Company, Inc, 1928. First American Edition, First Printing. Hardcover. Near Fine/Near Fine. DJ Artwork by "desRosiers. Black linen cloth over boards, title stamped in green onto upper board and spine, top edge stained green, 12mo (7-3/8 inches tall), pp. 305. Volume with fading to top edge stain and a slight forward slant, a few small rubs to cloth near edges, nicely illustrated silhouette bookplate of Harold Abrahamson to front pastedown, minor toning to text. Price-intact DJ with the publisher's decorative corner clips, some light edge wear and toning with the great des Rosirers artwork, still bright and ominous. "One of London's famous Pea-soup fogs has descended over the embankment as Sandy Kinloch made his way toward the home of an old friend on an errand at irked his Highland pride.... [Ferguson's] latest story will appeal strongly to lovers of mystery tales - but it has a charm and power in the writing to a degree not usually found in this class of fiction." from the front flap.
