A new edition. Dated using Jisc from copies held at the University of Leicester Library. Bound in the publisher's original pictorial cloth. Written by Scottish-born author William Gordon Stables, who was known for his works of adventure fiction, written predominantly for young boys. Stables spent much of his life working as a doctor in the Royal Navy, which served as inspiration for many of his novels. 'The Dashing Days of Old' tells the story of Willie Grant, a young, fearless lad from Scotland who ends up joining the navy and having all manner of adventures.Illustrated with eight plates by Margaret Irwin. Lacking three plates. Bound in the publisher's original pictorial cloth. Externally, very good, with light rubbing to the extremities and a little bumping to the head and tail of the spine. Slight marking to the cloth and darkening to the spine. Hinges are a little strained. Label residue to the front paste down. Age toning to the perimeters of the endpapers. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages bright and clean, with age toning to the first and last pages. Very Good
