London: A. & C. Black, 1895. NOT a library discard. PHOTOS UPON REQUEST. Cover is in Good condition with frayed spine ends. Spine is quite sun-faded, but its lettering remains easily legible. Internally VERY GOOD. Inner hinge cracks neatly reglued. A few outer pages and the tissue guarded frontispiece have small brown speckles (light scattered foxing). All text pages are clean and unmarked with NO foxing. NO owner's name or bookplate. 1895. First Edition. 100 illustrations. Consists of a 124 page historical introduction and a 318 page illustrated catalogue of dated bookplates from 1516 to 1895. Thousands of bookplates are described with date, owner's name, style, motto (if any), motto translation, artist, bookplate dimensions, etc. Includes useful notes on owners, designers, engravers, etc. Cross referenced to Allen, Warren, etc. Top edge gilt. Original chocolate brown endpapers. Bound in the original gilt-stamped red cloth. Fuller 60. Oversize Hardcover. 8.75" wide by 10.75" tall. This large heavy book will require extra postage for Priority and International shipments, but only the standard charge for media mail.. First Edition. Oversize Hardcover. Good - Very Good condition.
