Burgundy endpapers, b&w illustrations, including frontispiece, decorated title page. **No dustjacket or slipcase.** When a spirited Catholic orphan from France comes to live with her Presbyterian relatives in Scotland, she becomes interested in a married nobleman - tragedy ensues. The Scottish author, William Black, had a large output and was very popular in the 19th century. "A Daughter of Heth" was one of his most successful novels. 1933 Christmas gift inscrption in ink on half-title page with some ink offset on opposite page, light toning to margins of pages, very light browning to fore-edge and bottom of text block, minor edge wear, slight fading to spine colour, small light scuff on front cover..
