About This Item

This book is an anthology of articles on the diaconate. Authors include a wide spectrum of theologians, historians, deacons, and others. The first part of the book provides essays on historical and theological questions about the diaconate. The second part gives us articles about pastoral foundations for the identity of the deacon. The third part has two essays on the sociological identity of the deacon, including that of married man. The multiple endorsements at the beginning of this book bear witness to its value. The editor, himself a deacon, intends this book to be used especially by deacons in the course of their studies, preparing for ordination. In fact, the book would be a valuable resource for any deacon or priest. Especially useful is the very first essay by Father Edward Enright, OSA, on the history of the diaconate. He shows how the deacon is important to the Church and to its mission, down through the ages.

Your use of our website(s) constitutes acceptance of our terms of sale. Prices do not include shipping and handling costs. All prices are subject to change at any time without notice.

No returns can be accepted on videotapes, cassettes, CDs, DVDs, special orders, custom printed items, or print-on-demand books. In general, these items cannot be resold.

However, with the explicit approval of ACP's Manager, we may accept returns on regular book orders, within 30 days of the placement of the order, at the sole discretion of ACP, without condition or warranty of any kind.

As is customary with most bookstores, acceptable refunds apply, not to shipping and handling expenses, but only to the purchase price of the book itself. If items of any kind are returned to ACP without our prior permission, no refund whatsoever may be granted. Call or email us first: (708) 331-5485 or acp@acpress.org. No COD returns will be accepted; you are responsible for all costs associated with return shipments.

A Catholic publisher in San Francisco says, "Items are not sold on approval. No returns or exchanges except for damaged or defective products. Problems must be noted within 30 days of receipt of product. Shipping costs will not be refunded."

A Catholic publisher in New Jersey says that refunds are granted for products that are damaged in transit or defective in nature. "No return will be accepted unless it has been approved previously by phone and assigned a return material authorization number."

The policy of ACP is much the same as these and other major Catholic publishers. Of course, if you have received damaged, defective, or incorrectly shipped books or other merchandise, please call or email us for instructions on returns. In all such matters, our goal is your complete satisfaction. We will always do our best for you.
