About This Item

Boston: Colonial Press Company. Very Good with no dust jacket. [c.1880-1900]. Hardcover. Mr. Dickens's novel, first published in serial form from 1846 to 1848, features the mercantile tycoon Paul Dombey and his son, whom he wants to have follow in his footsteps, and his daughter, whom he ignores. This undated two-volume set presents the complete novel, and was likely part of a larger set of the works of Charles Dickens. With numerous illustrations, many of which are reproductions of originals by Phiz. Also with an engraved frontis portrait of the amiable Captain Cuttle to volume I. Possibly published c.1880-1900. --- In full brown cloth-covered boards with titling on paper spine labels; top edges gilt. Textblock edges roughly trimmed; some pages may be unopened. Volumes have no dust jacket. --- A clean, unmarked, tightly-bound set lacking serious damages. Spine labels a little faded.; Small Octavo - 7-1/2 to 8 in. tall; (10), 898 pages .
