New York: David McKay Company Inc, 1972. First edition. First edition, first printing. [viii], 184pp. Bound in publisher's crimson cloth with gilt spine lettering. Very slight lean to spine and rubbing along bottom edge, else Fine, hint of toning to contents, in Near Fine dust jacket with a hint of rubbing, unclipped ($4.95). Nice shape overall.

The basis of the 1974 film starring a steely-eyed Charles Bronson, directed by Michael Winner, that epitomized a crime and doom-laden era of political backlash and launched a popular series. The author was prolific, winning an Edgar for one of his mysteries and being a Pulitzer finalist for a historical work, often writing under a pseudonym.
