Written under the prince's supervision by a senior officer in his service, these posthumously published memoirs document the successful military campaigns conducted by Frederick Hendrik in the Low Countries against the Spaniards from 1621 to 1646, including the sieges and captures of Bois-le-Duc (1629), Maestricht (1632), Breda (1637), and Sas van Ghent (1644). Previous owners neat ink name written on the blank front free endpaper and some browning to the blank endpapers otherwise this is a tight, bright, and clean copy. Black coated endpapers with no cracking at all. Book feels firm and square. Publishers deep red cloth, spine and front board lettered in gilt. Spine with just a hint of fading but overall a much better copy than usually found. 5000 copies published 12th October 1900.

Muller was deputy head of the Royal Military Academy, Woolwich, where he was instrumental to its transformation into a disciplined cadet academy. An attractive first edition example of his first work.
