The first graduate of the School of Engineering at the University of Canterbury was the son of a bishop and he invented "that indispensible appurtenance of New Zealand and Australian life, the mechanical totalisator". Since the days of George Julius, more than 6000 young men - the first woman did not graduate till 1965 - have gone out into the world from the School.. First Edition. Hard Cover.
