About This Item

New York: William Morrow and Company Inc, 1984. First edition. Cloth. Very Good Indeed/Good. 8.5" by 6". None. The first US edition of the eighth Brother Cadfael books. Brother Cadfael is the fictional main character in a series of historical murder mysteries written between 1977 and 1994 by the linguist-scholar Edith Pargeter under the name "Ellis Peters". The character of Cadfael himself is a Welsh Benedictine monk living at Shrewsbury Abbey, in western England, in the first half of the 12th century. The historically accurate stories are set between about 1135 and about 1145, during "The Anarchy", the destructive contest for the crown of England between King Stephen and Empress Maud. In a cloth binding with original unclipped dustwrapper. Externally, smart, with just some slight bumping and a few light marks to the boards. Dustwrapper is sound, though with some tape repairs, a label to the front, and some edgewear and handling marks. Internally, firmly bound. Ink signature to front free-endpaper. Pages are bright and clean, with just a few spots to the textblock edge. Very Good Indeed
