About This Item
25.4 x 3.1 x 18.3 cm-Other than a mark on lower text block this is a tight and unmarked copy-" This is an excellent account of the Toronto Blue Jays first 20 years in existence. There is a good mix of in-game highlights, season synopses and behind the scenes coverage.-The two areas which are probably covered the most effectively are the behind the scenes machinations which lead to the creation of the team in 1977 and the early days under managers Roy Hartsfield and Bobby Mattick. The book effectively explores the first period when the team moved from just trying to put a passable group of players on the field to the second, which featured the development of young stars (including Stieb, Clancy, Moseby, Barfield, Fernandez, and Bell).-There is a fair bit of analysis of the senior management, the somewhat obscure power struggles amongst them, and the winners and losers of those internal battles. Recommended and essential reading for Jays fans."-Mark
