Eleven volumes. Samuel Pepys, an English politician, bibliophile and author, kept a diary for ten years between 1660 and 1669 which chronicles life during the English Restoration. In addition to his personal life, it documents important events such as the Great Plague of London, the Great Fire of London and the Second Dutch War. These eleven volumes comprise the entirety of Pepys' diary, and include a companion volume and an index volume. Each volume is complete with a dust wrapper, all unclipped. Volumes I through IX each span one year of the diary, with X being the companion and XI an index. Each volume of the diary contains maps of London to the rear, as well as a frontispiece. Volume I, the seventh UK impression published in 1983, contains seven plates. Volume II, the seventh UK impression published in 1983, contains three plates and a folding plate to the rear. Volume III, the sixth UK impression published in 1979, contains five plates. Volume IV, a third UK impression published in 1978, contains five plates. Volume V, a third UK impression published in 1978, contains five plates. Volume VI, a fourth UK impression published in 1981, contains six plates and a folding plate. Volume VII, a fourth UK impression published in 1983, contains seven plates. Volume VIII, a fourth UK impression published in 1983, contains six plates. Volume IX, the third UK impression published in 1983, contains seven plates. Volume X, the second UK impression published in 1983, contains one plate. Volume XI is a second UK impression published in 1983. Collated, complete. In the original green cloth binding. Externally, excellent with minor shelf wear only. Dust wrappers are also excellent with minor shelf wear to the extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean throughout. Fine
