No dustwrapper, minor bumping to spine ends and corners of blue boards, some old water-stains to boards but otherwise a good tight copy, with gilt titles on spine still bright, of this hard-cover book. Originally published in French in 1924 as "Si le grain ne meurt", this is a much later English translation by Dorothy Bussy, limited to 1500 copies of which this is number 535. An autobiography by the author, dealing with his childhood and up to his engagement in 1895. Also with his homosexual experiences in North Africa in 1893-94. 302pp.. Hard Cover. Good/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
Synopsis
André Gide was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1948.
