History and very detailed analysis of the printing and publication of the book from the viewpoint of the Nazi Party and Dritte Reich, German gothic text (of course), ill, f/o, foreword by Hans Johst. In 1933, Johst signed the Gel�bnis treuester Gefolgschaft, a declaration of loyalty to Hitler by pro-Nazi writers. In 1935, Johst became the President of the Reichsschrifttumskammer (writer's union) and of the Deutsche Akademie f�r Dichtung (poetry academy), powerful organisations for German writers. In the same year the last prominent Jewish writers, e.g. Martin Buber, were expelled from the Reichsschrifttumskammer. By this time these organisations restricted membership to writers whose work was either explicitly pro-Nazi or at least approved of by the Nazis as non-"degenerate". Johst achieved many other positions of importance within the Nazi state and the SS. He was the Nazi poet laureate. A rare book in excellent condition, VG/VG, 1st edn. The book was published with the assistance of Hellmuth Langenbucher, regarded as one of the leading Nazi literary scholars and was one of the most influential journalists and publicists of the Nazi Party.
