LKJ III, 575f. - Seltene englische Übersetzung der tschechischen Märchensammlung von Bozena Nemcová (1820?-1862). Die tschechische Schriftstellerin Nemcova schildert in ihren Märchen " [...] die Idee der Gerechtigkeit, der Güte und der Liebe; in den Erzählungen zeigte sie rechtliche, gute Menschen und die Realität des einfachen Lebens. Das Bild der harmonischen Persönlichkeit, welches sie in 'Babicka' (Die Großmutter) versinnbildlichte, nahm die tschechische Kultur als ideale Darstellung der Volkstradition [...] an" (ÖBL). Enthalten sind u.a.: "A tale without end", "The little Cock and the little Hen", "The disobedient kids", "Castle Bousin", oder "The frog and Belinka".
