An illustrated edition of William Cowper's 'John Gilpin' Illustrated throughout, by Ronald Searle. Ronald Searle was a British artist and satirical cartoon artist. He created the famous St Trinian's School and collaborated with Geoffrey Willans on the Molesworth series. Searle received many critical recognition for his work especially in America. He won the National Cartoonists Society's Advertising and Illustration Award in 1959 and 1965, The Reuben Award in 1960 and many more. Limited edition, one of 1600 copies. The illustrations were originally made for a film in the 'poet and painter' series for the Festival of Britain. In the original paper wraps. Externally, bumped to the head and tail of spine. Light rubbing to the head and tail of spine. Age toning to the extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Very Good Indeed
