About This Item
Toronto: McClelland & Stewart, 2007. Signed by Michael Ondaatje on the half-title, where he has added a quote from page 140 of the novel: "it set fire to the rest of my life." First edition / First printing. Black paper-covered boards. Fine in fine dust jacket.
Synopsis
Ondaatje is a poet, as well as a novelist, making his books anything but a "light read." Divisadero is stilted and haunting, following multiple story threads through time, memory, and thematic experiences. It isn't a book with a plot clearly telling what happened, but it is a story that lets you feel what is meant to be felt; vulnerability, lost hope, and sublimated desire.
