Tubingen and Berlin: J.J. Heckenhauer 2000, 2000. Limited edition, number 212 of 750. Unpaginated. Bound in green cloth over boards. Title printed in white to upper cover and spine. "DL07" embossed on upper cover. Excellent condition. Twelve page introductory essay by Ian Jeffrey, text in German and English. Twenty black and white photographs. "DL07" refers to Tirana, in Albania (it is a US map reference) which Liebchen visited during a period of peace. His photographs, however, use all the visual grammar and vocabulary of classic war photography to give the impression of a city at war. His purpose is to show that war photography has its own conventions which can exist separately from the veracity of the subject matter. The question thus arises: is war photography a work of journalistic realism or a work of art? Jeffery's essay suggests that we should see DL07 "as a kind of Arte Povera".
