About This Item
John Bale, Sons & Danielsson, Ltd, London, 1933. First Edition. Hardcover (Original Cloth). Very Good Condition/Very Good. 250 g; IV, 128 pages, indexed. With original plane printed brown paper dust jacket. The price was originally on the spine of the dust jacket, and there is a diamond shaped hole in the spine of the dust jacket. Original bookseller's sticker at lower right-hand corner of front paste-down. The signature of Reg S. Ellery, author and psychiatrist on front end page, foxing to the edges of the text block, but generally the pages are clean. "Beside the legitimate practitioners, the quacks also have been given a hearing in these pages. It is doubtful whether, in any nation, or at any age or time, there was ever absent, around the central orb of the qualified practitioners, a crowd of ignorant pretenders who, by dint of much shouting and brazen impudence, succeeded in impressing the unthinking masses to the undoing of their health and the depletion of their pockets. They are with us today, and they existed in great numbers at the period with which this book deals. They had more force in those days and have, therefore, been awarded a chapter to themselves." Pages 3/4. Size: 12mo (Small Hardcover). Please refer to accompanying picture (s). Quantity Available: 1. Shipped Weight: Under 500 grams. Category: Medicine & Health; Theatre; Inventory No: 0217533. .
