About This Item

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania: New Church Tract and Publication Society. Soft cover. Very Good. From the Title Page: ""A posthumous work by Emanuel Swedenborg, translated from the Latin.... Printed by J.B.Lippincott Company, Philadelphia."" No date published noted. The Preface indicates that this volume was translated from a Latin text published in 1878. Date of Preface is noted as June, 1883. Volume is 5 1/2"" tall x 3 1/2"" wide x approx 0.34"" thick. It is not a hard cover as we know today and not soft cover: Wraps are of stiff thick paper covered with green cloth and decorated with designs and lettering. Front & back end papers also of heavy weight stock; internal papers of lighter stock. No copyright page on verso of Title page or found elsewhere in volume. Collation: [lTitle page], [2], 3-116,[i].ii-iv. The last pages contain listings of Tracts, Lectures, and Sermons available from 'The American New-Church Tract and Publication Society' for ""2 CENTS EACH."" Interior text block tight; one crack along seam between Title Page and next leaf, the beginning of the Preface. Last two pages have a 1"" crease at corner caused by dog-earred fold. All edges stained red; through beginning to approximately page 18 there are smudges of the red stain along the margins as if someone had wet fingers with which they turned the pages. Does not affect text. 0
