New York: Alfred A Knopf, 1958. Nice copy of first printing with first edition stated on copyright page. Unmarked, tight and square. Purple decorated boards crimped lightly at spine ends. Purple still fresh. Price intact jacket has two tiny nicks at front fold and light wear at base of spine where colors sunned (as always on this title). Much praised author, often compared to Chandler, never disappoints. In mylar. . First American Edition. Hardcover. Near Fine/Near Fine. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
Synopsis
Ross Macdonald's real name was Kenneth Millar. Born near San Francisco in 1915 and raised in Ontario, Millar returned to the U.S. as a young man and published his first novel in 1944. He served as the president of the Mystery Writers of America and was awarded their Grand Master Award as well as the Mystery Writers of Great Britain's Gold Dagger Award. He died in 1983.
