Second edition.Bound in full-calf by Bumpus Ltd.'The Double Garden' by Maurice Maeterlinck is a collection of essays by the Belgian writer, translated by Alexander Teixeira de Mattos.Contents include essays like 'On the Death of a Little Dog', 'Universal Suffrage', 'The Wrath of the Bee', 'Old-Fashioned Flowers', and 'Sincerity'. Maurice Maeterlinck (1862-1949), also known as Count Maeterlinck, was a Belgian poet, playwright, and essayist. He was Flemish but usually wrote in French, and was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1911. Collated, complete. Bound in full-calf by Bumpus Ltd. Externally, smart. Minimal edgewear, with some fading to the margins of the boards. A bit of rubbing to the spine, particularly the raised bands of the joints. A few marks to boards. Offsetting to margins of free endpapers from leather binding on paste downs. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright throughout with the odd spot, particularly to the first and last few pages. Good
