Shepard, with numerous illustrations and the original dust wrapper. Presenting this charming memoir by Ernest H. Shepard of his early childhood. Ernest H. Shepard (1879-1976) was a noted English artist and illustrator, known for illustrating the Winnie-the-Pooh series by A.A. Milne. Containing numerous in-text illustrations by the author. In the original price-clipped dust wrapper. Containing the ink inscription of a previous owner to the front free-endpaper: 'To Mother, with respect and affection from her younger son, Denis, on the occasion of her birthday January 20th 1959'.This copy came from the library at Julians Park, Hertfordshire, the previous home of Audrey Pleydell-Bouverie (1902-1968). She was an English socialite and through her mother was the illegitimate granddaughter of King Edward VII. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, lovely, with just a little shelf wear. Price clipped dust wrapper is smart, with some minor chipping to the extremities and sunning to the spine. Previous owner's ink inscription to the front free-endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean. Near Fine
