About This Item
London: Methuen & Co. Ltd., 1957. First edition. Cloth. Near Fine/Very Good. 8.5" by 6.5". Ernest H. Shepard. A very smart first edition of this biographical sketch of the author's childhood with illustrations throughout. First edition. Illustrated with gravure frontispiece and over one hundred in-text images. A charming collection of memories from the author's childhood, delightfully describing his life with his parents and siblings at No. 10 Kent Terrace, in St. John's Wood, London. Written and illustrated by Ernest Howard Shepard, an English artist and book illustrator best known for his illustrations of the anthropomorphic animal and soft toy characters in The Wind in the Willows and Winnie-the-Pooh. In the original green cloth binding. Externally, very smart with minor wear to the extremities. Original price-clipped dust wrapper is also smart with light wear and the odd small closed tear to the extremities. Light sunning to the spine with the odd small mark to the panels. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with light age toning to the endpapers. Near Fine
