Ralph Thoresby was a 17th-century English historian who is best remembered for his books on the history of Leeds, England. In 1715, Thoresby published "The Topography of the Parish of Leeds" – a description of the history, geography, architecture, and monuments of Leeds. Thoresby published the first edition of 'Leeds' with a descriptive catalogue of the "artificial rarities" found in his Leeds museum.
This impressive first edition includes the folding map of Leeds which is often lacking.
