Publisher's original half-leather hardback; rubbed and mildly bumped, nonetheless still showing well, firm and square with string hinges. Contents sound and clean, just age toned with a former owner bookplate at the pastedown. No pen-marks and not from a public library so no such stamps or labels. Size: 250mm x 195mm; collation: pp. xlviii, 352. Comprises a number of works in complete facsimile with an introduction and other accessory material. Translated and adapted from the German edition: Zehn syphilis drucke aus den Jahren 1495-1498. Scarce.

All edges gilt. Marbled endpapers. Remarkable facsimile of the first (Venetian) edition published in 1491 of the Fasciculus Medicinae, a "bundle" of six independent and quite different medieval medical treatises. The collection, which existed only in two manuscripts (handwritten copies), was first printed in 1491 in Latin and came out in numerous editions over the next 25 years. Johannes de Ketham, the German physician routinely associated with the Fasciculus, was neither the author nor even the original compiler but merely an owner of one of the manuscripts.
