Green cloth on boards with gilt lettering and original dust jacket featuring a photo from Route 97 of Hawk's Nest by Port Jervis. 235 pages, illustrated with a frontispiece and an actual photograph of the author's mother on the dedication page. Inscribed to Dan Beard (""Uncle Dan"") of the Boy Scouts on a slip of paper attached to the front free endpaper. Endorsements on the jacket include ones from Bliss Perry and Zane Grey. The book is in good condition: Generally clean contents, some foxing at the front, frontispiece detached, binding sound, some shelf lean, edges of the text block foxed and stained, a few light stains on the boards. a newspaper clipping about Beard is attached to the inside of the front cover. The jacket is fair: Chips, tears, foxing, edge wear, overall darkening (the spine more than the rest). Not ex-library.

No other signatures or bookplates. Sequence of 101 poems, detailing hunting adventures, natural descriptions, etc., by a resident of the Lackawaxen, Pennsylvania and Delaware River region. Number 176 of 300 copies, signed by Pelton on limitation page. Notable for the dust jacket blurb by Western author Zane Grey (himself a one-time resident of the area): "I have always thought the country about which you have written your poem was a great background for a story . . . evidently you have caught its spirit". Grey's copy, with his three line library blindstamp.. Signed by Author(s). 1st Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good.
