About This Item

New York: New York University Press, 1977. Hardcover. Good- to very good condition. Quarto. xv (i), 110pp. Original orange cloth with black lettering on spine, in original illustrated dustjacket, green lettering on spine. Green endpapers. "This study, by a leading authority in the field of Egyptology, probes the intricate system of pharaonic theology, identifying the specific functions and interrelationships of the Egyptian deities. On the basis of many unpublished documents and a critical review of all known sources, Professor Wildung offers the first systematic study of the deification of royal and private persons in ancient Egypt." (Publisher) Illustrated with numerous b/w reproductions of photographs and ink drawings throughout. An brief inscription on the half title credits Steve Zaloga with the ink drawings but we did not find a printed reference to that fact in the book. Dustjacket with some wear along edges, top edge with some creasing and small closed tears, and spine sunned. Binding with minor wear and block with light musty odor.
